WART REMOVAL South Yorkshire

At our South Yorkshire Wart Removal Clinic, you will have your tag or tags clinically assessed by our nursing team. We find most tags are suitable for removal. Following our assessment, your nurse will use a precision tool to apply nitrous oxide to the area. Pen-like, the precision tool delivers nitrous oxide, known as N20. It’s very cold and freezes the stalk of the skin tag, which stops blood flow to the tag and kills it.

While the pen will not pierce the surface of the skin during treatment, its application to the skin may feel like the nib of a ballpoint pen touching your skin. During the treatment, your nurse might decide to apply the device again within the same treatment. It can depend on the skin tag’s size. Usually, tags can be dealt with effectively in just one treatment but larger skin tags can require another session.

After cryotherapy, you may feel a slight tingling in the treatment area. Cryotherapy isn’t painful, but you can feel a gentle stinging for the remainder of the treatment day. 

In the days after your cryotherapy treatment, you may notice that the skin tag changes colour. It will become darker. While the treated skin tag might feel like it is drying out and a little crusty, it shows that the tag is dying as it responds to the treatment. A few days after treatment, the treated tag will drop off altogether. You might find that a small mark where the skin tag dropped off remains, but this will go over time. When healed, you can resume your usual skincare routine.

Skin tag removal is a safe and simple procedure that is undertaken here, at our Clinic, by our nurse-led team of clinicians.

Some people are more prone to skin tags than others, however it is not clear why this might be the case. You may opt to have more than one skin tag removed at a time. Skin tags may sometimes look like warts; however, they are neither contagious and they will not grow back once removed.

Our preferred option – and the most convenient for our clients – is to have skin tags removed via freezing. This process is known as cryotherapy. Skin tags can also be removed by cutting them off or burning them off, however at our clinic, we prefer to use cryotherapy.
