WART REMOVAL Northamptonshire

All of our skin tag clients at Northamptonshire Wart Removal Clinic will have their tag or tags clinically assessed by one of our nursing team before removal. We find that most tags are suitable for removal.

After assessment, your nurse will apply nitrous oxide to the tag, using a precision tool that looks like a pen. The pen dispenses nitrous oxide which is also known as N20 and is very cold. Used to freeze the stem of the skin tag and prevent blood from reaching it, the freezing effectively kills the tag.

The pen does not penetrate the skin, but you will find that you feel a sensation similar like that of a ballpoint pen touching the skin during application. Once the first nitrous oxide application is complete, your nurse may need to re-apply the device to treat the tag. This can usually happen in one treatment and depends on the size of the skin tag. Typically, tags can be fully treated in one treatment, but larger skin tags might need to be treated in a second session.

Following the skin tag procedure, the client might feel a tingling sensation in the area of treatment. While it is not painful, you might find that you experience a gentle stinging throughout the rest of the day.

In the days after cryotherapy treatment, you will see the skin tag start to change colour, becoming darker. It might feel as if it is drying out and it may start to feel crusty. A good sign that the skin tag is dying, you will find that the tag simply falls off within a few days. You may notice that there is a small mark remaining but this will vanish over time. Once the area has healed, you will be able to complete your skin care routine as normal.

Skin tag removal is a safe and simple procedure that is undertaken here, at our Clinic, by our nurse-led team of clinicians.

Some people are more prone to skin tags than others, however it is not clear why this might be the case. You may opt to have more than one skin tag removed at a time. Skin tags may sometimes look like warts; however, they are neither contagious and they will not grow back once removed.

Our preferred option – and the most convenient for our clients – is to have skin tags removed via freezing. This process is known as cryotherapy. Skin tags can also be removed by cutting them off or burning them off, however at our clinic, we prefer to use cryotherapy.
