This is a freezing process and we use nitrous oxide that freezes the skin tag. This cuts off the blood supply to the tag and essentially kills it. As our preferred option, it is quick, needs no special preparation and is painless. On occasion, we might opt to use laser treatment instead, if our nurses decide that this is a better option. How does the skin tag removal process work?
Before treatment, your skin tag will be examined by one of our nursing staff to make sure it is suitable for removal. The tool looks like a pen and the nitrous oxide will freeze the stalk, cutting off blood supply. This will kill it over the next few days. Days after treatment, your tag will darken, dry out and fall off. It will leave a darker patch of skin that will clear in a few days. You can resume your skincare routine when the area has returned to usual.
