SAFE, CLINICAL SKIN TAG REMOVAL
At our silsden wart removal clinic, we offer skin tag removal. In a safe, simple procedure, we use cryotherapy to remove the tag. This is a process that utilises chilled nitrous oxide to cut off blood supply to the tag by freezing it. This effectively kills the skin tag.
At the silsden clinic, this is our preferred option – it doesn’t take long, it is not painful and you don’t need to undertake any special preparation for it. On some occasions, we can opt to use laser treatment if our nurse assesses that as a better option. Some people are prone to skin tags so we offer to remove multiple skin tags in one procedure. While you might find that skin tags look like warts, they’re non-contagious and, when removed, they do not grow back.
How does the skin tag removal process work?
Your tag will be assessed by one of our nursing staff to make sure that your skin tag is eligible for removal. Most often, they will be – but it’s important to check at this point to make sure we avoid future complications.
After the nurse has given approved the removal, they will use a precision tool that resembles a pen to apply nitrous oxide to the skin tag stalk. Nitrous oxide is very cold and will cut off blood supply to the tag, causing it to die and drop off in time. Although this is a painless process, you may feel a mild tingling in the treated area.
In the days after treatment, your skin tag will dry out, get darker and then fall off. When it falls off, it will leave behind a slightly darker patch of skin which is harmless and will go within a few days. We advise holding off your regular skincare routine until your skin has returned to its usual colour.
