SAFE, CLINICAL SKIN TAG REMOVAL
At the Slough wart removal clinic, we provide skin tag removal which is a safe and straightforward procedure to undergo. When we remove your tag, we will use cryotherapy; cryotherapy is a process which uses nitrous oxide to freeze the stalk of the skin tag and remove its blood supply. This kills the tag. Cryotherapy is our preferred option as it requires no special preparation and is painless for our patients. It’s also quick. From time to time, we may decide that laser treatment is the better option for skin tag removal. As some people are prone to developing skin tags, we offer to remove multiple skin tags during the one procedure. Remember, although skin tags resemble warts, they are not contagious and do not grow back once removed.
How does the skin tag removal process work?
When you arrive at our clinic, a member of our nursing staff will examine your skin tag to ensure your tag is eligible for removal. It usually will be, but it is important to check at this time to prevent future complications.
Once your nurse has approved removal, they will apply nitrous oxide using a precision tool that resembles a pen. Applying the nitrous oxide to the skin tag stalk, this will cut of blood supply through the stem causing it to die and drop off over the next few days. While it is a painless process, you might experience a mild tingling sensation around the treated area.
In the days after your treatment, your skin tag will get darker and start to dry out. Within days, it will simply fall off. When it falls off, it will leave behind a patch of skin that is a little darker. This is
nothing to worry about and will go away in a few days. We recommend that you do not resume your regular skincare routine until the skin has returned to its usual colour.
